We ensure all nurse practitioners meet state-specific practice requirements, including collaborative or supervisory physician agreements where mandated. For facilities without existing collaborative physicians, we can help facilitate these relationships. Our NPs come with established collaborative agreements in many states, streamlining the placement process.

We staff all NP specialties including Family (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP), Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP), Pediatric Primary Care (PNP-PC), Pediatric Acute Care (PNP-AC), Women's Health (WHNP), Neonatal (NNP), Emergency (ENP), and specialty-trained NPs in cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, and other areas.

Nurse practitioner prescriptive authority varies by state. All our NPs have prescriptive authority appropriate for their practice location. In full practice states, NPs prescribe independently including controlled substances. In reduced or restricted practice states, we ensure proper collaborative agreements are in place for prescribing. All NPs maintain current DEA registration for controlled substance prescribing where permitted.

Our credentialing process includes primary source verification of graduate nursing education, national board certification (ANCC or AANP), state nursing license and APRN certification, DEA and state controlled substance registration, malpractice insurance coverage (minimum $1M/$3M), National Practitioner Data Bank queries, criminal background checks, employment verification, and professional references. We maintain current files to expedite placement.

Assignment lengths vary based on facility needs: Short-term (1-4 weeks) for vacation coverage or temporary gaps; Medium-term (1-6 months) for medical leave or recruitment bridges; Long-term (6+ months) for extended coverage or evaluation periods; Permanent placement for facilities choosing to convert locum NPs; PRN/per diem for ongoing flexible coverage needs. We accommodate any timeframe that serves your facility.

All DocStar nurse practitioners carry their own comprehensive professional liability insurance with minimum coverage of $1M per occurrence and $3M aggregate. We verify active coverage before every placement and can provide certificates of insurance naming your facility as additional insured upon request.
