Ryan’s path to becoming a top performer in the competitive world of locum tenens staffing was anything but conventional. In his mid-20s, he was bartending when a regular customer, who happened to work in the industry, recruited him over the course of several weeks. What started as chance quickly turned into a career Ryan fell in love with, as he discovered his talent for connecting with people and making an impact.

When Ryan joined DocStar, he was drawn to the company’s unique culture and leadership. “The managing partners treat this as more than just a company,” he says. “They genuinely love making a difference in the industry and seeing their employees flourish. Being part of a team with that mentality is an opportunity you don’t pass up.” From the beginning, Ryan’s commitment to building relationships and delivering results set him apart.

Ryan credits his success to hard work, availability, and a relentless drive to improve. He believes the key to excelling in sales is being there for clients and providers, even when it means stepping out of a restaurant to take a call or working nights and weekends. “There’s no secret formula,” he explains. “It’s about dedication and being willing to put in the effort to ensure everyone is taken care of and happy.” His ability to handle difficult conversations with honesty and transparency has earned him the trust and respect of clients and providers alike.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of Ryan’s role is turning business relationships into lasting friendships. Over the years, he’s attended weddings, hosted physicians for South Florida getaways, and built connections that transcend work. These bonds, along with his competitive nature and drive to achieve, keep him inspired and motivated.

In 2024, Ryan made significant contributions to DocStar’s growth by expanding his skillset and taking on new challenges. Transitioning from physician-only recruiting to managing both hospital staffing and physician placement, he elevated his productivity and proved his versatility. “Relearning what you think you know after 12 years is an incredibly fulfilling process,” he says.

Balancing the demands of his career with personal life is no small feat, but Ryan makes it a priority to recharge through hobbies like golf, exploring new restaurants, and enjoying sports. These moments help him refocus and maintain his energy for the fast-paced work of locum tenens staffing.
